Google Ads VS Facebook Ads. Which ad platform should you use?

  • If you have just started a business, should you rely on Google Ads or Facebook Ads to advertise your business?

  • Chances are you've been told to try running Facebook Ads - because it's more affordable than Google Ads. But is that the case?

One of the biggest questions we get all year.

Hey, I've just started an online business. Should I use Facebook Ads or should I use  Google Ads to promote my products and services? A lot of people might think that using Facebook Ads is the way to go. After all its cheaper and more affordable compared to Google Ads.

Also on Facebook, you can target people based on their job title, their interest, and many other things. But the answer to this is it depends. It depends on your ideal customer and their habits. So think of your ideal customer. What do they do online? What kind of content do they consume online? What are their habits online? What time do they go online? So let's say you're trying to target CEOs. Chief executive officers

Now, we know that CEOs are very busy people. Do they spend time on Facebook? Scrolling through the newsfeed? Or do they spend time on Google searching for answers or reading content on Google? Now let's say that CEOs that you're trying to target are people who spend time on Facebook.

Now, let's talk about their habits. Do they spend time on Facebook in the morning? Maybe from 6 AM to 8 AM, before work? Or do they spend time, at night, after work?  Maybe 9 PM or 10 PM? Now, knowing that would give you the answer to when to target them and which platform to target them.

Now let's talk about Google. Under Google Ads, there are two products  I'll mention in this. There is Google Search Ads, where you show your ads whenever someone searches on Google. And Google Display, that's when you show banner ads banner display ads., when someone reads a content,  you put in your display banner ads - inside that content. So coming back to that CEO. Let's say that CEOs that you're trying to target are people who read the financial news on Google. Now when he reads that piece of finance news, what you can do, is you can use Google Ads, to put in display banner ads inside that content. And that way, they'll be able to see your ads.

Now, better yet. What you can do is you can use a multi-channel approach, For example, you can use Google Ads to target them. So you would use, probably a search ad. Or use a display ad to target them when they are reading something online. And when they see your ad, click into your website, your landing page, you then retarget them using Facebook Ads. Now let me know. Which platform are you using?  Are you using Google Ads? Facebook Ads, or both of them?
